A week without television- NOOOOooo!

by admin Leave a reply »

New week… new challenge and I already hate this one.  Today, I must come clean that I am addicted to television.  I love my TV.  This week’s green challenge is to not watch television.  Unfortunately, I do not think this is going to be one of those challenges that will continue, but we will see.

I am guessing that I will find out how much energy the television uses and the waste involved in televisions.  I know… I already get it.  Watching the dummy box is bad for the environment and probably also bad for my brain.  Even right now, I am watching a riveting feature length documentary about the world Donkey Kong record.  I guess there is quite a bit of drama and conspiracy behind retro video games.

So, I am pretty sure I will find some useful and good things to do with my time, but I already don’t like this one.  I hope you stick with me this week and let me know your story about television, or lack of, in the comments area below.

Good luck! I probably couldn’t do it.

Great challenge; we’ve lived TV free for over 10 years and I can safely say I don’t miss it one bit. Sure it’s better for the environment and your brain, but most of all it’s better for your relationship with the people that matter. I’m betting you and Ashely will be much closer by the end of the week – you’ll talk more, spend more time together, do stuff together (not saying you don’t already do this, btw, but ya know, you’ll just have more TIME to be together).

Also, you won’t have all that advertising convincing you that what you have already isn’t good enough, so that will have the biggest impact on the environment of all – you’ll be more satisfied all round and when we’re more satisfied, we tend to buy less stuff.

    Enjoy!
